Abingdon School
Oxford

Project Description
This extension provides a new sixth form and arts and library building to a private school in Oxford. Designed within a conservation area and with key historic and listed buildings, we have continued the red brick and stone facades of the existing buildings and introduced a repeating profile of pitched roofs. The existing mature trees have also been incorporated, influencing the massing of the building and providing shade.
Our off-site, manufactured CLT solution addressed the tight programme and the landlocked site and the design provides a rational, flexible and adaptable solution – a sort of kit of parts for a live, sensitive site.
