College Park SEN School
Bayswater, London

Project Description
The practice took on the delivery of this new school, which provides education and support for 4-19 year olds with complex learning difficulties. The new building is on a constrained site in the Bayswater conservation area and we worked closely with the planners in re-designing the street frontages. The Monmouth Road elevation is a contemporary take on the traditional surrounding streetscape, using London stock brick and render but in reverse, with the bricks at ground floor level and render above. Inside, a strategy of toned down colours, developed in line with ASD guidance, help navigation and draw attention to teaching areas as focal points.
