This project provides 14 new homes (8 family terraced houses and 6 flats and maisonettes) for the One Housing Group and it demonstrates DMA’s expertise in delivering high quality, complex projects. DMA were appointed post-planning, when the design had been approved by the planners and the structural frame was already complete on site. The building, which encloses one side of Nunhead Green and is within the Nunhead Green Conservation Area, is designed in a modern, vernacular style with a complicated roofscape and a variety of decorative details and brick patterns.
Working closely with Claritas Group, the specialist sub-contractors, and with the planners, we used our technical expertise to unpick the existing constraints and to carefully develop the design. Using a very detailed Building Information Model, we translated the traditional detailing into modern construction techniques that enabled the project to be delivered and managed in line with the existing and exacting planning requirements.
