Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee SEN School
Maida Vale, London

Project Description
The practice took on this phased extension to a school that provides educational and therapeutic support for 4-19 year olds with severe and complex learning difficulties. The facilities include a hydrotherapy pool, a sensory garden and a new vocational training centre. Designs were developed in close collaboration with teaching staff to ensure their expertise informed the proposals.
The DMA team also worked with sixth form pupils to develop the interiors. Bright colours have been used throughout with feature walls to draw attention to teaching areas as focal points. Colour coding aids navigation and access, with different colour schemes on each floor and stylised pictorial signs.
