It was great to start the year with Abeeha in our London studio as this year’s first graduate of our award-winning work experience programme. She joined us from St Augustine’s School in Westminster and, during her week with us, created a really impressive and thoughtful design for a new family home on a real site off the Harrow Road (see images). Reflecting on her achievement, Abeeha said,
My work experience at David Miller Architects was incredibly rewarding. I learnt how architects go through the process of designing buildings and use advanced software (Revit) to create buildings based on the surroundings as well as client’s needs. I’ll be using these new skills to strengthen my university applications in the near future.
Abeeha was mentored by our architectural assistant colleague, Holy, herself an alumni of this DMA programme in September 2022, and who is currently studying for her Masters in Architecture on the Level 7 apprenticeship programme at London Southbank University. As a regular mentor, Holy passionately believes in the opportunities that the work experience gives and says,
DMA work experience gave me a lot more confidence in entering the profession and I learnt some really useful skills. Now it’s really rewarding to work with other young people and helping them to explore their future opportunities.
