We have worked with Class of Your Own over the last four years, helping to deliver the innovative Design Engineer Construct GCSE programme that links education and industry and aims to attract secondary school pupils into construction.
This has led to a new opportunity to partner with other companies and sponsor a school as an SME. We have partnered with Henry Riley and Arup to adopt St Joseph’s College in Croydon. Over a two year period, we will work with the school to help develop design proposals with students and teachers. The project the kids are going to do is based at Brooklands Museum of cars and aircraft and involves them re-purposing the interior spaces of the stratospheric chambers that were used for testing aircraft at altitude. We took 100 students to visit the site at the end of last year, at which stage Top Con carried out a point cloud survey of the space. This has been translated into Revit so that the students can now develop their designs with fully coordinated 3D models.
Das went to the official kick off meeting for the project with the school last week and we are really looking forward to working with budding young architects and future professionals for the construction environment.
