Our proposal for King’s House School in Richmond has just been submitted for planning approval. Explore a ‘walk through’ created in-house by our DMA team here. The brief required a new specialist teaching building for media and music to be situated adjacent to the existing buildings of this independent school for boys aged 3 to 13. Our proposal rationalises navigation and accessibility issues by creating a new collegiate courtyard at the heart of the school, which also gives the school community a clear identity. The new performing arts centre, an octagonal building at one corner of the courtyard, has drama facilities, bespoke practice rooms for individual music lessons and an open-plan space at the top for teaching and intimate music and drama performances, with views into the tree canopy. If approval is granted, the project will start on site in summer 2021.
