The Pretoria Institute for Architecture (PIA) has invited David Miller to deliver a series of lectures and workshops in Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban throughout October.
David has been asked to share his experiences on running an award-winning SME practice and how at DMA they have created a seamless blend of thoughtful design with advanced technologies for digital construction.
It is an exciting time in the world of digital design in South Africa as it takes its first steps in the BIM realm, and the PIA is encouraging its members and the wider design and build community to take advantage of the benefits which can be realised through BIM adoption.
David commented ahead of his visit: “The purpose of the talks is to impart and share knowledge on how innovation can help architects grow their businesses. Many of those attending will be from small practices, which we see as being an advantage. Being small means you can be quick to adopt the latest technologies, giving you a leading edge in a fiercely competitive commercial environment.
“Innovation is rarely the result of a flash of inspiration or a single light bulb moment, rather it’s the result of many planned incremental steps, carefully executed reviewed and evaluated. It’s the accumulation of these small changes that allows us to evolve and improve how we work.
“Through the course of these talks, we’ll look at what makes practices unique, how they can expand their services and the importance of embracing the new technologies for digital design that are shaping the built environment.”
