This Art Deco car showroom, designed by Wallis, Gilbert & Partners, was converted into offices in 1998, with the addition of a fourth floor. DMA were appointed at the beginning of May 2021 by LABS, the owner, to bring this Grade II listed building up to date and to fit it out for new workspace. Through a thorough site review to assess Building Regulation compliance we highlighted accessibility as a key issue. There is a car ramp that goes all the way through the building and up to the roof. Steps had been previously introduced, resulting in areas being inaccessible or non-compliant.

We worked with the new tenant to develop the detailed fit out design to align to their brand, values and operations, providing scope and performance information to tender at Stage 3. This included resolving the numerous level changes and improving the fire strategy whilst being sensitive to the historic building as well as managing the planning applications for works to the façade.
